February Blog

Hi Folks,

A very happy if belated New Year to you all.!

Currently I’m still in Hua Hin (Thailand) getting some warm weather practice in which is fantastic and a great opportunity given the conditions in Ireland.. Asian Tour School did not go my way last month which was frustrating but learned alot and looking forward to  heading back west for the season. Oddly enough, even with a tour card secured it is difficult to get tournaments in Asia just now as many are Co-Sanctioned events where only the highest ranking players in Asia and Europe get spots. Having said that, it was disappointing not to get my card considering the countless opportunities with which I gave myself over the final few days. However, plenty to look forward to, onwards and upwards!

2016 is going to be a busy year . I intend playing the bulk of my golf in Europe incorporating  Challenge Tour, Europro Tour, British Open qualifying etc. It will be unusual to be somewhat home-based for the season and build up to European Tour School later in the year. I am really looking forward to getting into a good run of competitive golf  kicking off in April and hope to replicate some of my stand out performances of last year. All in all I played much better than I scored in 2015 and will be looking to remidy that anomaly this year. I really feel that my putting has let me down some-what over the last couple of seasons and has been holding me back from big tournament peformances. I have started to work with a full time putting coach on this and our goal is to reduce my stats by 1 putt per round which may sound marginal but would mean a saving of 4 shots per tournament week which is enormous.  This improvement alongside a continuation of progress with my long game which seen me finish the 2015 Asian Tour season in 5th for “driving” and 6th in  “Greens In Regulation” .(With improved putting these stats would equate to alot of trophies)

I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank my sponsors for their support and I Look forward to meeting you all through-out the year.

I will leave you with my favorite Ben Hogan quote-

You Can Excuse A Bad Swing But Not A Bad Decision”
